YouTube is wise indeed. (I’d completely forgotten about that song — actually I think maybe I was subliminally reminded of it every time I look at wikipedia.)

Dedicated to a certain person who has promised videos on her blog.

  1. That is very, very dated.

I had never heard this before. But I will, again and again, in my head, whenever I visit Wikipedia.

  2. I feel that this video portrays a nicely egalitarian vision, with the women in the band playing real instruments and the girls getting their chance to break dance, all in a very non-exploitative way. Wikipedia (wiki-wiki-wiki-wiki; shut up) says that they had the ABBA thing going on: two married couples.

I also feel that the ripoff of “Rapper’s Delight” is pretty extreme.

  3. I especially like that the girl who is really popping and locking is wearing a lavender skort dress. In her defense, she’s about 12.

Also, we must not neglect the info text from YouTube: “PIMPEST 80’S RAP MUSIC VIDEO EVER.”

  4. That’s pretty sweet (to use the appropriately time-bound expression). Also, did you get my e-mail, matt? I’ll re-send it just in case. You can hide, but you can’t run.

  5. Holy crap, where did that picture of me come from? That’s terrifying, like having Beaker show up without calling ahead.
